A Mountain Love Story | An Engagement Session in the San Juan Mountains
Some love stories begin with a chance encounter, and for these two, it all started while working in public service. Back in May of 2023, Daylan was working at the sheriff’s office while she was working at the fire department. They first crossed paths on a call, and as they continued seeing each other through work, a little curiosity eventually turned into something much more.
And speaking of milestones, their engagement story is one worth remembering! On July 4th, 2024, Daylan planned a surprise proposal months in advance, knowing that the Fourth of July was her favorite holiday. With a ring ready and absolutely no idea what was coming, she got the surprise of a lifetime. ❤️
To celebrate their engagement, we headed into the beautiful San Juan Mountains of Colorado for their session at Kilpacker Trail, one of their favorite places to spend time together. With the incredible mountain scenery surrounding us, it was such a special way to capture this season of their relationship. There's something so meaningful about choosing a place you already love to document a moment you'll want to remember forever.
Looking back now, these photos represent more than just their engagement. These two are now married, and what began with a chance meeting on the job has grown into a life together filled with love, adventures, and so many memories still waiting to be made.
Getting to capture this chapter of their story was such an honor, and I love knowing they have these photographs to look back on as they continue through life together.

A Little About this Special Couple <3
How did you two meet?
We met through ours jobs, Daylan was working at the Sheriffs office and I was working at the fire department at the time. It was May of 2023. We met on a call and then continued to see each other on calls and slowly I got up the nerve to ask him his name, then we started talking a couple weeks later and talked every day after that. We talked for about a month before going out on a date. We would’ve gone out sooner but our work schedule never lined up. After our first date we spent every day off together doing fun adventures and just getting to know each other.
How long have you been together?
We’ve been together a little over 3 years and married 2 years. When we got engaged we wanted to do a photo shoot together to capture some photos of the two of us together, the spot we picked to do our photo shoot was In the mountains in one of our favorite places to go.
What is one of your favorite memories together?
One of my favorite memory of us would be the day that we got engaged, it was July 4th 2024 and Daylan knew that the 4th of July is my favorite holiday so he had planned the whole thing months before and even had the ring *I had know idea* he was planning this!:) and having those engagement pictures to look back on is so amazing! I can’t wait for us to do another couples session! And here is to many many more years together.
