A Little About This Family 🤎

Some love stories begin long before we ever realize where they’ll lead, and this family’s story is such a beautiful example of that. Ryan and his wife first met back in seventh grade, started dating in eleventh grade at just 16 years old, and have been together ever since. Today, they share 27 years together, 22 years of marriage, and three wonderful children who have grown up alongside their love story.

Getting to photograph families through all the different seasons of life is one of my favorite parts of what I do, and this session felt especially meaningful. With their oldest two now stepping into adulthood and their youngest keeping life busy with sports, this family is experiencing a season filled with change, growth, and so many memories worth holding onto.

Their decision to update their family photos came at the perfect time. After moving to Colorado, yearly family photos had slowly become less of a tradition, but with their middle daughter graduating high school, they knew it was time to get everyone together and preserve these memories before another chapter began.

We met up at beautiful La Plata Canyon near Mancos, Colorado, surrounded by the incredible mountain scenery that makes Southwest Colorado such a special place for family photos. There’s something about being outdoors together, away from the everyday hustle, that makes room for genuine connection and those little moments you don't always think to capture.

And while every family has its own traditions and personalities, sometimes it’s the simple things, like sitting down to play a game of Uno together, that make the memories sweetest.

I loved getting to capture this family during such a meaningful season of life. Time moves quickly, children grow, and before we know it, the little moments we once took for granted become the ones we wish we could revisit. That’s why family photography will always mean so much to me. It gives us a way to hold onto the people we love, just as they are, right here and right now.

Keep reading to learn more about this sweet family, their story, and what makes this season of life so special to them. ♡

A Little About the Burson Family & Their Session  <3

How did your family come to be?

Ryan and I met in 7th grade, seriously started dating in 11th grade at age 16 and have been together ever since. We have been married 22 years! Together 27 years, friends for 31 years! We have 3 kids, Victoria 22, Kaitlyn 18 and Justin 12.

What are some of your favorite things to do together as a family?

two of my kids are now adults and watching them navigate their way is a beautiful thing, my youngest has me on my toes with sports.

Was there a reason you wanted to have family photos taken at this particular time in your lives?

that is a good one, each kid is different and bring something to the table. I think I will gloss over this one, too much to say.
